Feature Friday: Printers and Copiers Appleton Branch Office

For over 50 years many businesses in Appleton, WI, and surrounding communities trusted their printing needs to a copier and printer company by the name of Northeast Photocopy (NEP). In September 2014, Marco acquired NEP and is continuing that tradition of trust. Marco CEO Jeff Gau said, “We look forward to continuing NEP’s commitment to satisfying their clients and providing opportunities for their valued employees.”

Over five decades NEP achieved great success, led by Nora Schulz, and her parents before her. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Grew their customer base to over 1,600
  • Opened an office in Green Bay, WI
  • Became one of the first four Konica Minolta dealers in the US
  • Expanded services beyond office equipment to document management solutions and managed print services

Continued Growth

Between the Appleton and Green Bay offices, Marco now serves all of northeastern Wisconsin. This footprint, in addition to their current locations in Madison, La Crosse and Eau Claire, positions Marco to provide not only printers and copiers to all of Wisconsin, but all of their business technology products and services.

Valued Employees

The NEP employees joined the Marco team last September and we look forward to our future together. Get to know a few of our Appleton printer and copier experts:

Nicholas Walker

Nicholas WalkerAs a Marco Technology Advisor, Nicholas spends the majority of his time meeting with current and prospective customers, learning about their businesses, and suggesting technology solutions that contribute to their continued success. Additionally, he crafts proposals, works on ongoing projects and continually looks for new opportunities to engage with potential customers.

Nicholas’ favorite thing about his job is the people that surround him. He said, “Marco has a great culture where everyone is happy to help one another and enjoys what they do. I’m always learning something new from those around me.”

Here’s a glimpse into Nicholas’ life outside the office:

  • What do you do in your free time?
Outside of work I can be found spending time with friends and family, watching sports or reading a good book.  I also started golfing last year. I golf as often as I can despite the fact that I am terrible at it.
  • What is your favorite thing about living and working in Appleton/Green Bay Wisconsin?
Between Appleton and Green Bay there is plenty to do without dealing with traffic and those types of things that you would in a bigger city.  I also like that we experience a wide variety of weather through the different seasons.  I could do without some of the coldest days in the winter but having the Packers in our backyard makes up for that.

Jenny Zuehlke

JENNY ZUEHLKEJenny joined NEP four years ago when she was looking for a position that would allow her to use her skills and experience. When Marco acquired NEP, Jenny transitioned from the Administrative Department into her new role as a Contract Coordinator.

As a contract coordinator, Jenny interacts with Marco employees and customers while supporting contract billings for Wisconsin and part of Minnesota. Her favorite part of her job is the internal and external customer interaction.

Outside of work Jenny enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, golfing and gardening. Her favorite things about living and working in the Appleton/Green Bay area are the food, art, music and shopping opportunities and experiences.

Pete Porrey

PETE PORREYPete began his career at NEP as a service technician, maintaining a wide variety of office equipment ranging from typewriters to copiers. As our industry evolved and network connectivity became commonplace, he followed this evolution and supported advanced systems to enhance copier solutions.

Today he is a Marco Managed Services Specialist where he works with our Technology Advisors to represent Marco’s Managed Service offerings in the Appleton and Green Bay area. This includes Managed Print, Managed IT, Managed Cloud and Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions.

Pete loves working with his customers to solve their business related problems. “Even though I have a lot of experience in helping organizations identify and improve processes through technology, every day brings a new challenge and something new to learn. It is a pleasure working for a company that’s committed to such a wide variety of technology and services, and whose employees excel in delivering it to their customers,” Pete said.

To get to know Pete even better, we asked him these questions:

  • What do you do in your free time (outside work)?
My many years of watching and coaching my three kids year round in their various sporting endeavors are coming to a close as my youngest is now a senior in high school and will soon be joining his brother and sister in college.  This will give me more time to enjoy my home improvement projects, woodworking, gardening and repairing my three kid’s aging vehicles.
  • What is your favorite thing about living and working in Appleton/Green Bay Wisconsin?
I love this area for its quality of life.  The people are great, the schools are good and, in many ways, it has a big city feel with a small town atmosphere. The recreational opportunities are outstanding. It’s a great place to raise a family.

Joe Thiel

JOE THIELJoe graduated with a degree in electronic technology, which led him to this industry, and he has been here ever since (35 years). He is the Field Service Manager in Appleton, where he mentors and manages 11 field technicians, works with Technology Advisors on new projects and educates his team through online and classroom based training.

Outside of Marco Joe enjoys woodworking, fishing and spending time with his three grown sons. He is also involved in his church and works with young couples preparing for marriage.

Joe’s favorite aspect of working and living in Appleton, is that he gets to do so alongside the hardworking and friendly people that make up the wonderful community.

Beyond Printers and Copiers

Marco CEO Jeff Gau said, “This acquisition supports our national growth strategy and also allows us to expand our business IT services to their clients.” Marco now provides its full suite of technology products and services in Appleton and all of northeastern Wisconsin.
