FAQs

Not sure if our services fit your needs? Here are the questions our shred team gets most often.

Yes. Deleting a file or reformatting a drive removes the reference that makes the data visible to you — it doesn't erase the underlying data itself. Until that space is overwritten, the original data can often still be recovered with standard forensic tools. If your old hard drives ever held client records, consumer information, or other sensitive data, discarding or reselling them without physically destroying the drive leaves that data exposed.

The FACTA Disposal Rule is a federal regulation, enforced by the FTC since 2005, that requires any business possessing consumer information — credit reports, background checks, tenant or insurance records, and similar data — to dispose of it through reasonable measures like shredding paper or destroying electronic media so it can't be read or reconstructed.

Marco provides on-site shredding in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, Greater St. Cloud, MN, St. Louis, MO, and Middletown, PA.

Marco provides locked collection containers that stay at a client's facility so staff can place confidential materials inside at any time. On shredding day, our shredding experts collect the containers and shred the contents on-site using a mobile shredding truck, so destruction happens at the client's location rather than at an outside facility.

Both. Marco offers one-time shredding for a single cleanout as well as routine, scheduled shredding on a timeline tailored to a client's needs.

Recycling the shredded material makes it an environmentally friendly option, and it frees up staff time, storage space, and office organization that would otherwise go toward handling documents in-house.

If your business is in one of Marco's service areas, you can request a quote and a shredding specialist will follow up to set up your containers and schedule.
