Vice President of Human Resources
Susan Yost had an “a-ha” career moment while working at a management consulting firm years ago. She realized working in human resources is what she enjoyed, and it was a career she wanted to pursue. So, she went back to school, earned her MBA, and forged ahead. Since then, she has brought and grown her skills at Optum Technology, Valspar and Medtronic.
Now as Vice President of Human Resources at Marco, Susan focuses on initiating and overseeing the implementation of strategies and processes that attract, engage and grow talent. In this role, she’s passionate about building manager competency, training for talent acquisition, giving leaders a holistic view of talent, improving employee engagement and creating intentional development. She sees HR as a key partner in the function of Marco’s daily operations – to help drive goals with HR strategies.
She likes tackling new tasks, and she is not afraid to make a mistake. That unfettered determination is how she wants Marco employees to feel – unafraid of failure and inspired to advance in knowledge and skills.
If she could choose one superpower to have, she would like the ability to understand what people are thinking; sometimes she thinks she knows, but she believes it would be helpful to read minds.
When not at work, Susan enjoys running, working out, playing golf, and cheering on the University of Michigan Wolverines in the Big Ten. She and her husband, Rob, have one son. She likes spending time outside as a family and is constantly chasing after their toddler.
