THIEF RIVER FALLS, MINN., MAY 28, 2019 – Marco attended Digi-Key Cares event on March 21 to celebrate $108,542 raised for nonprofit organizations throughout Thief River Falls. As a vendor and partner with Digi-Key, Marco provided a substantial contribution to this year’s total.

The Digi Key group and Marco members showcase their summary check for the 2019 Digi Key Cares program at the annual banquet.

Headquartered in Thief River Falls, Digi-Key Electronics is one of the fastest growing distributors of electronic components in the world. The company provides electronic parts and online design services to engineers all around the world. Their Digi-Key Cares program funds local nonprofits, such as Falls Delivered Meals, Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf, Thief River Falls Heritage Center, Lutheran Social Services (LSS) and the Pennington County Humane Society.

“The Digi-Key Cares Outreach Program is designed to provide Digi-Key employees with an opportunity to give back and be involved in the local community by helping others. Employees can volunteer their time and/or through monetary gifts or occasional product drives. At the heart of Digi-Key Cares is the opportunity to volunteer time,” said Mark Schmitke, Digi-Key Manager of Community Relations and Events.

Throughout the year, Digi-Key hosts multiple fundraising events—from cook-outs to food drives to the Digi-Dash run/walk. These fundraisers inspire generous donations to area organizations.

“We are very fortunate to have a company like Digi-Key that continues to grow, provide employment opportunities and give back to their own community. The net effect of Digi-Key to northwest MN is just beyond words amazing,” said Marco Director of Managed Print Services Dan Larkin.

Larkin attended the Digi-Key Cares Banquet luncheon on March 21. The annual event featured a presentation to recap the program and its positive charitable giving effects. All those involved were invited to attend the celebration of philanthropy.

Thanks to Marco’s Foundation Rebate Program, which rewards select nonprofit customers for their business, Digi-Key also received a check for 1.5% of their total sales with Marco. These funds went straight to the Digi-Key Cares Foundation.

“We are very thankful for the partnership and contributions that Marco provides to Digi-Key Cares. The donation helps in providing funding to the charitable organizations that Digi-Key Cares supports. It is encouraging to Digi-Key to have partners that join us in giving back to the community,” said Schmitke.

Likewise, the partnership allows Marco to offer genuine support. “From a Marco perspective, it gives us the opportunity to be a part of these key charitable organizations through Digi-Key, as they choose the appropriate places to fund, and we help via their program,” said Larkin.

Since the program’s inception in 2011, Digi Key Cares has held true to the mission of building a spirit of teamwork and community volunteerism, as well as an outward focus of care for others in their community, including those less fortunate. Marco has donated to Digi-Key Cares since its start.

“We at Marco are certainly proud to contribute back to this great program in Thief River Falls. The effects of Digi-Key overall in this community are overwhelming,” said Larkin.
