FARGO, MINN., NOVEMBER 6, 2018 – Marco’s Legacy Scholarship began at Concordia College this fall semester, awarding one Business major $5,000 toward his/her studies. We congratulate Treyton Austvold as the scholarship recipient.

This scholarship grew out of Marco’s Foundation Rebate Program, which rewards nonprofit customers for their loyalty by offering them a 1.5% rebate based on their annual sales with Marco. This year, Marco donated over $367,000 to group members, including Concordia.

Each year, the Marco Legacy Scholarship will continue to benefit one Concordia student majoring in Business. Austvold is the first recipient of the award.

Austvold is a senior majoring in Business Finance and Marketing. A native of Spicer, MN, he chose Concordia for the culture and excellent program. As a member of the Concordia football team, Austvold believes being a Cobber means “working hard and leaving it all out there” on the field. He dreams of becoming a marketing manager for a major sports team.

Austvold shared a thank-you message with Marco: “I wanted to express my gratitude to Marco for their support of my college journey. I have met the most wonderful people at Concordia, while also challenging myself with vigorous coursework to help prepare me for the future to make a difference in the world. I wouldn't have had this opportunity without your help, so thank you again Marco! I am truly honored and humbled to receive your scholarship.”

Last week, Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Warrey accepted a plaque in honor of Marco’s contribution. “The plaque is a nice token of the scholarship our contribution provides. We love to give back to our clients and the causes important to them. This hopefully allows Treyton to focus on his academic and athletic pursuits while helping pay for tuition costs,” Warrey said.

Warrey added that the scholarship donation reflects our Marco Gold Standard pillar of giving back to the communities we serve. “We’re proud to partner with Concordia on this scholarship gift for Treyton,” Warrey said.
