Marco Rochester: Meet Our Experts and Find Out What Keeps Us Busy

In fiscal 2014 alone Marco has completed six acquisitions. Amidst all this current growth it is fun to look back and see where some of our previous acquisitions are today. Almost exactly five years ago we completed an acquisition in Rochester, Minnesota. On November 1, 2009 we opened the Marco Rochester doors for business – and today we are finalizing our move to a new location.

Marco Rochester – Then & Now

In 2009 we acquired Venture Computer Systems, which had two Minnesota locations and two Wisconsin locations. Rochester was one of those Minnesota locations, and it became Marco’s first presence in that community. At the time, this acquisition brought Marco’s combined professional services staff to just less than 150. To provide some context, today we have over 460 certified systems engineers and technical representatives – which is more than 500% growth! It’s amazing what can happen in five years.

From the Rochester location we provide Managed Services (IT, Print, Video and Voice) and sell associated business technology hardware and software. We design, install and service VoIP phone systems, video conferencing equipment, audio/video equipment, printers and copiers and more. From simple small business environments to advanced technologies and enterprise applications, we design, implement and support it all.

Sixteen employee owners call Rochester home and provide these products and services to Rochester and the surrounding communities. There are six sales representatives, nine technicians/engineers and one administrative staff member. Together they contribute to the community and keep Rochester-based businesses operating securely, communicating effectively and printing efficiently.

Meet Some of Our Experts

Michael Tomsche

Tomsche_MichaelMichael Tomsche is the Sales Manager for Copiers/Printers/Managed Services. He is responsible for ensuring his team helps customers implement solutions for copier, printer and managed services in the Rochester and Mankato markets. He has been with Marco for just shy of four years. When we asked Michael what his favorite part about Marco and his job was, he said:

I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of selling and learning about forever changing and enhanced technologies that Marco sells and supports. Also, being part of a 100% employee owned organization means a great deal to me. It’s a special feeling to know that everyone on the Marco team strives for the betterment and growth of this great company.

Shelly Caldwell

Caldwell_ShellyShelly Caldwell is a Managed Services Specialist, and has been with us for nine years. Prior to working from the Rochester location, Shelly worked out of Saint Cloud. She described her job as being “an evangelist for Marco and all of our Managed Services solutions.”

Shelly’s favorite part about working at Marco:

My favorite part about working at Marco is that each of us are owners and you can feel that, no matter who you talk to.  We all work together as a team to execute on tasks that need to be accomplished.

Shelly’s favorite part about her job:

My favorite part about my job is that I am able to encourage and inspire our Southern Minnesota and Wisconsin sales teams to think strategically about our managed services solutions and how they will benefit our customers and prospects.

Brandon Fogg

Brandon Fogg is a Network Engineer, who spends his days designing, installing and supporting data infrastructure – which includes routers, switches and servers. In addition to the technical aspect of his job, Brandon has spent his five years at Marco providing great customer experiences. Brandon worked at Venture Computer Systems when it was acquired by Marco, so he was one of the first Marco employees to call Rochester home. His favorite part of his job and working at Marco is:

The people are great to work with!  I also enjoy the opportunity of learning new technology and providing expert assistance to my customers.

Michael, Shelly and Brandon are just three of our talented and passionate Marco Rochester employees.
