I started at Marco in March 2013. I have since been m:powered by the ambition and work ethic of everyone. I wasn't completely confident in the skills I had when I first started, but after being in the Help Desk for two months, they sent me from Tier I to Tier II. That was a HUGE accomplishment for me and it made me feel good about where I worked. After working 12 hour shifts for almost 6 months, I moved to Network Specialist. Now every day when I put that Marco shirt on, I take pride in what we do as a company, and as an individual working for the greatest company in the world. I feel my duties are important and make a difference to not just the company, but to the customers as well. I have good working relationships with customers and it feels good to know that Marco has my back.
Marco has been doing this m:powering thing for a long time. I recently completed my 28th year as a Marco employee/owner. A moment I’ve never forgotten occurred many years ago. I was in a service dept. meeting. That was back when ALL our techs (about 30 of us) fit into 1 small conference room. We still had typewriter techs back then! At 1 of these monthly meetings we had a training session pertaining to ‘a moment of truth’. A main point of emphasis was that when we were servicing a customer’s machine in their office, we ARE Marco. We were encouraged to make decisions on our own instead of telling the customer 'I have to check with my manager.' As a young tech, this was very m:powering to be trusted to make significant decisions that were in the best interest of me, Marco and our CUSTOMER!

Empowering higher ed employees is all about being good stewards of our resources. When I started with managed print with Marco 2 1/2 years ago, not only did I get a much better price, I got the caring expertise of the staff. After several months on the new program, my rep Ryan Zimmer came to me with facts and figures and an idea. By identifying the three highest volume printers on campus, and suggesting replacing them with multi-function copier based machines, we were able to save a lot AND offer more functionality. His initiative was much appreciated and showed me that Marco puts the success of its customers first.

Faced with budget shortfalls, I was tasked to find savings within the District. Marco made the recommendation to replace our current equipment from two separate vendors and help us fully encompass the entire print fleet under one vendor.
