Marco announces a charitable giving partnership with Open Arms of Minnesota, a nonprofit organization that cooks and delivers free, nutritious meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities. As part of Marco’s charitable commitment to the organization, the company’s St. Louis Park office has earmarked over $17,000 in charitable donations and at least 20 hours a month in employee volunteering.

Marco created the partnership with Open Arms after an extensive search process to choose a local charity that would provide a range of giving opportunities. Marco surveyed its employees at the St. Louis Park office for recommendations and, from those responses, researched nearly 20 organizations before choosing Open Arms.

“We wanted to become a very active champion for the organization we chose, beyond just providing financial support,” said Steve Gau, VP of Copier Solutions, based in Marco’s St. Louis Park office. “Open Arms gives us the opportunity to participate in a number of hands-on, volunteer activities throughout the year. And, of course, we were drawn to the importance of its mission. It’s an organization we’re honored to support.”

Marco employees have volunteered their time in a variety of activities, including decorating bags that are delivered to clients, working in the organization’s organic garden and helping at Open Arms’ Moveable Feast event. Future activities include meal preparation and delivery, a cook-a-thon and sponsoring an annual golf classic fundraiser.

With the help of over 6,000 volunteers like Marco, Open Arms cooks and delivers more than 600,000 meals each year to people living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis and ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), as well as their caregivers and dependents. Since it was founded in 1986, Open Arms has relied solely on donors and volunteers to operate.
