Fortune Magazine announced in its October edition that Marco, Inc. is among the 50 Best Small & Medium Workplaces in the nation. The Top 50 list, developed by independent research firm Great Place to Work, represents a broad variety of industries and locations. This national recognition follows seven honors Marco received this year for creating a culture that’s admired for its people and performance.
Marco received high satisfaction ratings of at least 96 percent in each of the assessment‘s six focus areas, including providing positive challenges, atmosphere, rewards, pride, communication and bosses. The Top 50 list is available on Great Place to Work’s website and Fortune Magazine’s website. Great Rated! also published Marco’s detailed workplace review.
A few findings include:
- 97 percent of employees believe their bosses act with integrity and care, are competent in their positions and provide clear directions and vision for the organization.
- 95 percent of employees feel they can take time off when necessary.
- 96 percent of employees are proud to tell others they work at Marco.
For the list, employers undergo a significant assessment, including a survey by Great Place to Work to all employees. Great Place to Work aims to understand what it is really like to work at a company and what employees really say about their experience.
Other workplace honors that Marco received in recent months include: Minnesota 100 Best Companies to Work for, Star Tribune Top Workplace, Minnesota Business Good Leader Award Finalist, Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal Best Places to Work, Young Professionals Best Place to Work from the Fargo-Moorhead Chamber of Commerce, Top 10 Young Professional Workplaces from the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce and Prairie Business Magazine 50 Best Places to Work.
The Top 50 honor comes as Marco completed in September its tenth acquisition in less than three years and begins executing a national growth strategy. The company added 100 employees to its team of 800 in the past year and plans to reach 950 employees by next year.
“We are providing high quality, good-paying careers – not just jobs,” Gau said. “We believe in being a company that’s building careers, building families and building communities.”
About 45 percent of the company’s growth has been through acquisition. The larger portion, 55 percent, has been organic. “I am proud of our team and believe we have some of the best talent in the industry,” Gau said. “They’re committed to performance and are the reason why our company has consistently experienced double digit growth over the past five years.”
