Switching over to outsourced IT can be a real game-changer for today's businesses - regardless of size. Sure, the benefits and ROI differ when you compare small businesses to enterprise-level organizations, but either way you slice it, the benefits are there. Still, for businesses on the fence, the decision to switch can feel like a tough call.

I work with lots of customers from every business type and size you can think of, and when it comes to outsourcing IT, there are a few things that are universal.

1. Cost Management

Outsourced IT: The Are (And Science) of Letting GoWith outsourced IT, managing costs becomes unbelievably simple. It requires a fixed, monthly investment, and that's it. There are no additional charges for upkeep, maintenance, patches, software updates, etc.

2. Improved Security

Cyber threats exist for every business today. It doesn't matter what industry you're in or if you have five employees or 500. Security is extremely important for businesses, and outsourced IT providers have been protecting businesses from cyber threats since the very beginning. They can spot weaknesses in your technology and provide the tools and technology to keep your business safe.

3. Resource Allocation

The most expensive resource for today's businesses is its employees. And if your employees are wrapped up in customer service requests and IT support matters, they are not focusing on their actual job duties. This can take a toll on your budget, employee satisfaction statistics and productivity levels. Plus, if your employees are focused on day-to-day IT needs, they're not able to put effort into keeping your business competitive.

Letting Go of the Basics

One crucial thing to remember is that outsourcing IT does not mean replacing your current IT staff. It's about offloading the standard things that fill an IT director's plate and hold them back from developing strategic initiatives. Outsourcing IT can eliminate your need to build a help desk, document ticketing, collect data and manage individuals. All these things need to be done, but they don't need to be done internally.

Even though the decision of whether or not to outsource IT might not come easy, it's worth your time to at least consider whether or not the way outsourced IT functions will benefit your business. To get a better idea of what outsourced IT can do for your business, check out our checklist:
