Cambridge Bar & Grill“If one of our employees informs us about an incident that occurred, they can just give us the estimated time and we can pull up the video coverage for that time period. We don’t have to look through a bunch of tapes.” CAMBRIDGE BAR & GRILL REDUCES LIABILITY WITH UPGRADED SECURITY SYSTEM
In 2001, a year after Peggy and Loren Davis purchased the Cambridge Bar & Grill, they installed a cassette-based video security system to help protect their facility, customers, and employees.
As technology evolved over the years, they felt it was time to upgrade to a digital video system for several reasons. They wanted to gain better video clarity so they can be aware of what is happening in and around their building when they are not there. They also wanted an easier and quicker way to review video footage and reduce any liability issues. The SolutionSteve Marsden, Marco Technology Advisor, met with Peggy and Loren to introduce them to a March Networks Digital Video Recorder (DVR) system. Loren explained, “Steve came in after hours to work around our schedule – he is very flexible. He is great to deal with and is knowledgeable. If he said he was going to do something, he would give me a time he would get back to me and always followed up within that time frame.”In 2006, Marco installed a March Networks DVR with 12 cameras. Marco incorporated six of their existing cameras with the new system and installed four new indoor cameras and two new outdoor cameras. Loren and Peggy were pleased with the installation. “The guys from Marco have all been great to work with,” said Loren. Peggy added, “They did a nice job!” The feature Loren and Peggy like most about their new system is the time it saves them in searching video for incidents. According to Loren, “If one of our employees informs us about an incident that occurred, they just give us the estimated time, and we can pull up the video coverage on our computer for that time period. We don’t have to look through a bunch of tapes. And we do don’t have to change tapes every day like we did in the past or worry about who will be changing them.” Loren said that liability-wise, it’s so nice to have the DVR. The system has proven its value already through several incidents that have taken place since it was installed. In one instance, an employee reported that she had suspected a customer took a $10 tip off the bar that belonged to her. The employee gave Loren and Peggy the approximate time the incident occurred, and they were able to review the video and see the customer taking the money and putting it in his pocket. This allowed them to address the incident with the customer, thus preventing it from happening in the future. In another instance, the surveillance cameras that are located in the back of the Cambridge Bar & Grill’s building validated an incident where a person had entered several employees’ vehicles and vandalized a taxi cab. The photo of the vandal was captured on video and given to the police so they could apprehend the suspect. The system has given the Davis’ a piece of mind in knowing what is happening when they are not able to be there. Loren and Peggy also know that the service Marco provides didn’t end after the sale. “I get follow-up emails from Steve regularly to make sure things are going well for us,” said Loren. “When we called Marco to request that one of our cameras be adjusted when they were in our area, they were out here the next day to take care of it for us.” When asked if he would recommend Marco, Loren replied, “I’d say these are the guys to talk to. I’ve had nothing but a good experience with Marco!” |
