New York Mills School District takes advantage of multifunction technology.

As with most organizations, reviewing copier/printer output costs is not always the first item on the to do list for the day. New York Mills School District strives to stay current with new technology, which is why Marsha Maki, Business Manager for the District, felt it was time to review their document output needs and make sure they were operating as efficiently as possible.
Josh Hochgraber, Technology Advisor for Marco, met with Marsha to reassess the District’s needs and their current output costs. He then recommended solutions to provide their staff with added features to make them more productive and showed them how they could utilize some of their existing units more effectively.
“I think the process went well,” said Marsha. “The nice part was that Marco was able to provide us with detailed information on our copy counts and what we were spending. We were able to relocate some units where they worked best versus buying all new systems.”

Marco installed and networked five Sharp multifunction copiers/printers for the District – one in each of their three administrative offices and one in each of their lounges. The networked copiers/ printers have allowed them to centralize their copying and printing and eliminated the need to have a personal printer in each room.
With the multifunction capabilities of the new units came the ability for the District’s staff to fax, copy, and scan from one centralized unit. Todd Cameron, Superintendent of the District, likes the ability to be able to scan documents and email them directly to board members or colleagues. “Now we can scan and send documents paperless and the digital documents are stored on my computer to use for future reference,” said Todd. This feature also saves the District time and costs associated with mailing and faxing documents.
Ben Dahlin, Tech Supervisor for New York Mills School District, was pleased with Marco’s performance in connecting the new units to their network. He explained, “Marco’s technicians did all of the networking to our servers which was great. It was an easy connection process. In a day we had all the units up and running smoothly. There have not been any bugs with the connections. It’s been really fun working with Marco’s technicians.”
Marsha has been working with Marco for almost seven years now. “We have a very good relationship with Marco. They’ve been very helpful and very knowledgeable about what our needs are and the options available to us. When we don’t hear that anything is going wrong, that’s when we know things are going well.”
Todd added, “Marco’s approach was very proactive! Marco does what they say they are going to do.”
