ATS planned for five meeting areas in their new facility including a large board room, a training room, and three smaller conference rooms. The AV committee put together a bid package for the rooms’ equipment needs and submitted it to several vendors, Marco being one of them.
Brent explained, “We were looking for a vendor who could give us some ideas and outline the technologies available. We wanted flexibility to be able to adapt to future A/V technology. Jeremy Kirt, Marco Technology Advisor, and Josh Kirt, Marco Video System Specialist, were very good at problem solving and coming up with good ideas. We definitely had a comfort level with Marco and they were in the ballpark for pricing.”
Marco provided ATS with a variety of state-of-the-art equipment for the company’s new meeting areas. Their goal was to have the equipment be easily accessible and functional and yet look aesthetically pleasing. “We didn’t want the A/V to look like an afterthought when the room was done,” said Brent. “We looked at Marco as someone who would be there to not only install the technology, but also support it.”
Marco equipped their large board room with a hidden LCD multimedia projector, automatic projection screen, a Polycom audio conferencing unit, and a hidden camera for video conferencing. Six hanging microphones were installed for full audio conferencing capabilities in the room. A portable touch panel controls all of the equipment including the projection screen, LCD projector, DVD player, and VCR — it even adjusts the volume and lighting in the room.
Brent said, “Being a national carrier, we needed to implement the right technology to help us all come together. Conference calls don’t always get it done, so we added video to improve interaction with our business units and terminals. Now we can see people’s reactions and it gets us closer to interacting with them.”
The training room, which has removable wall dividers for size flexibility, was equipped with an LCD multimedia projector, automatic projection screen, a camera and video conferencing unit, and microphones. ATS uses their training room full-time five days a week to conduct training courses for their drivers in groups of 10-25 people at a time. The video conferencing unit is used to train employees at their Gary, Indiana terminal, thus saving the company thousands of dollars in travel costs. Marco also provided ATS with all of the structured cabling for their new facility.
Brent was pleased with the installation of their AV equipment. He commented, “Marco’s people were knowledgeable and professional. Jeremy communicated well with us and was very responsive in providing information and pricing and coming up with good ideas. We changed some things along the way and Marco dealt with those changes well. I would definitely recommend Marco.”
