Region 1 was using an old Xerox high speed printer with a substantial number of copies on it for the majority of their printing. Their annual maintenance costs were starting to increase along with the number of machine failures. The unit was beyond its useful life and was no longer very reliable. They run a time critical print job on the machine at least once per week so reliability was key. Bob Wheeler, Executive Director for Region 1, and Russ Matter, Technical Services, were looking for a more reliable high speed printer with increased performance for essentially the same price.

Marco sat down with Russ and Bob to conduct a print analysis and determine their needs. From past experience with HP printers and their dependability and ease of use, Region 1 wanted to stay with a name they’ve come to trust. Russ said, “We didn’t even consider an option other than HP—HPs work! They have drivers for the different operating systems and are easy to work with. When clients ask me about printers, I always recommend HP.”
Region 1 kept close track of their copy volume history which averages around 8,000-10,000 copies per month. Marco suggested an HP 9000 high volume printer with duplexing and sorting features. Marco set Region 1 up on a Managed Account Program which allows them to pay a cost per copy just for the copies used. The program includes the equipment, service, and supplies—everything except paper, staples, and network troubleshooting services.
Russ said, “We get increased performance and reliability from the HP 9000 printer from Marco for essentially the same price we were paying.”
When the HP 9000 printer was first installed, Region 1 was experiencing an alignment problem with the high output stacker on the unit, so Marco installed a new stacker to resolve the problem. Russ said, “Initially we had some problems with the installed equipment, but the problems were corrected. Marco’s service and responsiveness has been very good!”
Region 1 uses the HP 9000 to print their flex claim checks, quarterly reports, and student manuals. They printed 35,000 W-2 forms for the districts in January. Bob commented, “The unit has been very reliable—it just runs!”

Region 1 is pleased with the performance and reliability of their new HP 9000 printer and with the service they receive from Marco.
