At Marco, “take this job and love it” is more than just a saying – it’s an attitude that carries through in all of us who have a real passion for what we do. Since 1973 we have been making Marco a great place to work. We believe people are our most important asset, and we recognize the necessity of promoting the self fulfillment and well being of our employees.
Marco’s culture is made up of many things – how we treat you, the cohesiveness of management, the way we compensate, and how we evaluate your contributions. We implemented our Employee Stock Ownership Plan in 1989 because we know our performance is a direct result of knowledgeable employee owners who "think like customers.” As a 100% employee owned company, we attract and retain long-term employees who have grown with us and help build our future. Marco has one of the highest employee retention rates in the technology industry. Our culture is unique in that we share our financial performance with all employees, knowing that every one of us has a direct impact on our bottom line.
In 2004, Marco was named one of the Top 25 Best Companies to Work for in America by the Great Place to Work® Institute – a San Francisco-based research and management consultancy that also produces Fortune’s 100 Best Large Companies to Work for in America. An anonymous 55-question survey was given to all 189 employees, and company rankings were based on answers to a cultural audit of communication, training, involvement, and other organizational features. Marco was selected among 450 applicants.
In every area of your life, your behavior is a complex function of four dimensions – talent, education, motivation, and attitude. We are committed to matching your talents to a position of interest because people grow most in the areas that match their strengths.
People provide the only real differentiation and this requires employees who are perpetual learners, stretching, growing, and breaking new ground. Marco is committed to education and retraining and building from within. We care a lot – and expect a lot.
